Speaker: Dr. Roseanna Means

Dr. Roseanna Means is a physician on the staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who has spent over 4 decades providing health care in both a primary care practice and to homeless women in Boston. Her expertise is in Women’s Health.  She is knowledgeable about homelessness in MA, government benefits, health policy and health equity issues.  She founded and ran a non-profit for 22 years that provided free medical care to homeless women.  She retired from her primary care practice in 2017 and from her non-profit in 2021. For the past 8 years, she has been running a program that she designed at the Brigham called Bridges to Moms.  This program closes gaps in social determinants of health (housing, food, transportation, safety, primary and mental health access) for pregnant women receiving maternity care at the BWH who are also facing homelessness and hunger.  For the past year, she and her team have been working deep in the trenches of the shelter capacity crisis, helping recent immigrants as well as local citizens who are pregnant to navigate the steps they need to take to have a healthy baby and a place to take the baby home to.
